 Dodford First is committed to helping every child understand climate change and take practical, positive steps to protect our planet. Our Climate Action Plan brings learning to life through everyday actions at school and at home, so children can build knowledge, confidence and habits that make a real difference.

We will support pupils to learn about the causes and impacts of climate change in age-appropriate ways, linking topics across science, geography and personal, social and health education. Children will explore how energy, transport, waste and food choices affect the environment, and they will practise skills such as observation, discussion and respectful decision-making.

Parents can play a key role by working with us on simple, achievable changes. This includes reducing food waste, choosing reusable items, encouraging active travel where possible, and conserving energy at home. Together, we will celebrate progress, share ideas through school updates and ensure children feel proud of their efforts to care for their community and the wider world.
